Pak-Turkiye joint military drill concludes
The closing ceremony of PakTurkiye Joint Exercise AtaturkXIII held in Counter Terrorism Domain between Armies of Pakistan and Republic of Turkiye was held at Cherat in Pakistan. This military exercise involves several different nations, and they are working together in part because those nations have a strong defense partnership and are committed to sharing the resources that are needed to be able to work together to increase the effectiveness of counterterrorism capabilities.
The elite forces from the two countries started the two week-long exercise in 10 February 2025. In an official ISPR news release, it was stated that two combat teams from the Special Services Group (SSG) of the Pakistan Army and 36 personnel from the Special Forces of the Republic of Turkiye took part in the exacting training sessions. The exercise included several complex and realistic counterterrorism scenarios, tactical maneuvers, and specialized drills representative of those a fighter is expected to confront in the field of combat.
The intent of the exercise was to improve professional skills through combined training as well as foster the historic military to military ties of the two allied nations. The participants took part in high intensity drills including hostage rescue operations, close quarters combat training, urban warfare techniques and counter improvised explosive device (C-IED) training. These were intended to exercise operational coordination and strategic planning between the forces in readiness to anticipate challenges in security.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior military officials from both countries who praised the dedication and professionalism displayed by the troops. But they stressed the need for such joint military initiatives to enhance mutual understanding, interoperability and experience swapping in counter terrorism operations.It is expected to increase the security situation of the region, and will provide a precedent for further defense sector joint ventures between Pakistan and Turkiye.
