Record-Breaking! 1,061 Pakistani Doctors Secure Residency Positions in the U.S. in One Year
Advancement in medical field of Pakistan has reached to its climax, this year Pakistan doctors get more number of residency in USA and this record is highest so far of one year, 1,061 doctors get residency in the USA. The achievement can be considered a very important step towards developing a better system of medical education in the county and its acknowledgement worldwide.
Speaking of this remarkable success, the President of the PM&DC Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj congratulated the doctors for hard work and the institutions from which the doctors emerged from.
It can thus be argued that this is a perfect era for the development of medical education in Pakistan. And it also represents the standard of our students and also the efforts of PM&DC for establishing our medical and dental colleges on the international level,” opined Dr Taj.
🩺 The Road to US Residency
There are quite known that getting a residency position in the United States indeed was not an easy task. To regain access to the register, Pakistani doctors have to take the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) which is very challenging. This also requires rigorous paper work to be submitted and excellent academic background besides passing examinations; the other factors, which are considered inevitable tools in the selection process, include interview tests.
According to Dr. Taj, the only thing that can help one growth in the farm is only the greatest determination and perseverance.
This year’s cohort demonstrate not only the hard work of the individuals who were selected for admission into the medical field but also owes credit to all medical colleges of Pakistan. Included among the specifiers to this great achievement were:

This is actually attributed to the increasing recognition by other countries of the country’s medical education system. In 2024, the PM&DC had attained WFME accreditation, which has greatly increased the international recognition of the Pakistani part The graduates.
This privilege enable Pakistani doctors to register for training and work in other health care systems some of these countries include; United States of America, United kingdom, Canada, Australia.
It means the mission of our university is very clear that we educate and train the Pakistani doctors not only for the domestic market but for the international market as well. This achievement shows that we are on the right direction, “commented Dr. Taj.
