If not water, Indians’ blood will flow in rivers: Bilawal Bhutto

HYDERABAD:

As the intensity of conflict between Pakistan and India increases, PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari gives a message to New Delhi: ‘’Pakistan wants to remind India that it will never let go its rights over the Indus River which is the birthplace of a historical civilization’.

Addressing an impassionate public gathering in Sukkur on the visit of a power loom plant established by the Sindh Government on Friday, Bilawal flared up in reaction to the Architect of his India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) following the Pahalgam attack. He emphasised that although Modiji is talking about inheriting Indus civilization, the real inheritors are in Pakistan.

“Sindhu is ours and it will remain ours,”, transpired Billawal surrounded by an applauding throng. He said, “Either water or your blood will flow in this river”, if someone ever tries to usurp or siphon of the water from Pakistan.

Bilawal he also declared a major political shift of the respective federal government: it has been stated that from now onwards construction of six new mainstream canals being constructed on the Indus River will be possible only with the consensus of all provinces in CCI to bring an end to the unilateral decision on water projects.

In response to Modi’s speech, Bilawal replicated that the essence of the Indus civilization is in Mohenjo Daro which is located in Larkana, Sindh. “We are in fact its true protectors and we shall protect it,” said he, adding that none of the Pakistani, nay the Global community, would allow India aggression.

He urged all the provinces of Pakistan to Wakeup to what he referred to as an impending danger to their electric supply through condemning the act of some group that threatened to eliminate all the major hydroelectric power stations in the country including those in his province of Sindh. He vowed they would let the world know robbery on the Sindhu would not be condoned.

Victory on Canal Dispute

Earlier, responding to the present government’s initial plan for fresh water canals, Bilawal had appreciated the PPP workers for protesting against it. He disclosed that with the resolution of the PM Nawaz Sharif after their meeting just recently the new water project without the consensus of the provincial government would not go forward as per the Water Apportionment Accord of the year 1991 and Water policy 2018.

The next meeting of the CCI is planned for May 2 and it will likely look into the complaints relating to water supply and water certificates issued by the IRSA from Sindh side.

PPP’s Stand Against India’s Treaty Suspension

PPP’s chairperson Shaxia Marri also expressed her satisfaction on the same issue focusing on constitutional federalism as well as the provincial autonomy. She has described Bilawal as possessing principled and courageous leadership before asserting the fact that water resource equitably would be vital for the Pakistan’s survival and its unity.

Marri also expressed dismay over India’s annulment of the IWT as what can be termed as “illegal and inhuman.” She strongly affirmed the PPP’s backing for nationwide endeavors to uphold Pakistan’s rights and assured that Bilawal would give voice to it in every forum.

“Chairman Bilawal has stated that Pakistan will speak against India’s tyrant decision at all forums”, she proclaimed.

PPP committed to defend the rights of the provinces of Pakistan, protection of Indus waters and to continue the policy of establishing the federation on the basis of unity and coordination.
