Govt Announces Relief for Electricity Users up to 300 Units
Here, agricultural tube wells and electricity consumers below the limit of 300 units per month have been decided by the government to get relief. On the other hand, the Power Division has officially written to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) requesting that this relief be implemented.
Relief on Fuel Cost Adjustment
Federal Minister for Energy Ovais Ahmad Khan Leghari also announced a major initiative that would ease the financial burden for such consumers. He said the monthly fuel adjustments now not available to these groups will be extended to them.
Power Division’s letter says that consumers using 300 units per month and less have been deprived of the fuel cost adjustment reduction since June 2015, and agricultural tube wells since December 2010.
Impact on Electricity Bills
It stressed that the fuel cost reduction should be extended to these groups so that they will greatly lower their electricity bills and receive the needed financial relief. Many domestically, and also in the agricultural sector, are expecting to benefit from this move as it will help reduce operational costs for farmers.
This is an important step in the government’s effort to ease the impact of rising power prices on low income electricity users and the farming community.
