Pakistan Army Shoots Down 2nd Indian Drone in a Day

On April 30 Pakistan’s military forces downed two Indian surveillance drones that entered Pakistani airspace during twelve consecutive hours.

The Xinhua News Agency published information showing military forces shot down a Phantom 4 drone in Pakistan-administered Kashmir when it attempted to spy on the Satwal sector.

The military sources explained the drone airborne full-time surveillance duties until air defense units took it out before it finished its task.

Military forces shot down the first Indian quadcopter at the Manawar sector of Bhimber district which lies along the LoC early that morning. The army confirms both drones were flying illegally within Pakistani airspace during their surveillance operations.

Growing Border Tensions

After terrorist activities took Indian lives the use of military drones on border areas has significantly risen. India holds Pakistan-linked terrorists responsible for the assault but Pakistan rejects all links while asking for international investigators.

After this incident border forces in both regions engaged in repeated exchanges of gunfire while using small weapons and recorded more air surveillance flights.

Broader Implications

Recent attacks on surveillance drones in quick succession show that lasting peace remains uncertain along the Line of Control and introduces airborne threats to the existing conflict. The military experts predict that escalating tensions between India and Pakistan may transform into a complete war unless the countries remain calm and start formal peace talks again.

International Concern

These actions follow reports from Pakistan about Indian military movements which the Pakistani military believes will happen soon. The United Nations and the United States both urge India and Pakistan to lower tensions and find peace through diplomatic means.
