Pakistan Earned $1.864 Billion from IT Exports in Six Months

The exports of $1.864bn of Information Technology (IT) sector have been recorded during the first six months: July&8211;December) of fiscal year 2024&8211;25: reported the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). A 28.04 percent incline of the $1.455 billion earned in the equal period the past year (proposed FY 2023 24).

Significant Growth in Computer Services

In the July – 25, the country exported computer services three times more than during the same period in 2023, US$1.581 billion, up 34.54 percent compared to US$1.175 billion a year earlier.

However, results indicate that software consultancy services increased by “35.73% increase or $549.91m valued, up from $405.16m worth of revenues in 2016.”

On the other hand, our hardware consultancy services declined by 7.84 percent; this decreased from $3.129 million to $2.884 million.

The exports of computer software decreased slightly by 5.18%, $311.33 million to $295.20 million.

The computer services other than Blank Service recorded 61.04 percent growth, rising from $454.81 million to $732.43 million.

Information Services See Record-Breaking Growth

During the year, the combination of gradual recovery of global economies and of exports of service, particularly of information services, escalated by 746.93 percent, increasing to $14.871 million from $1.755 million.

The growth in this market is led by news agency services with an incredible increase by 1,240.84% rising from $1.037 million to $13.909 million.

Also, other information services grew by 33.87% ($0.718 to $0.961 million).

Decline in Telecommunication Services Exports

The growth in IT exports was reflected, but telecommunication services fell by 3.90% to $267.825 million when compared to $278.681 million.

The strong performer in the call center services market was up 29.26%, from $119.99 million to $155.10 million.

However, the other telecommunication services fell 28.96% as it decreased from $158.686 million to $112.724 million.

Conclusion

However, despite the negative impact on some sectors, Pakistan’s IT and information services industry is counted among the rapidly growing sectors, largely on the basis of robust growth being recorded in the software consultancy and other computer services. In this regard, the country with a rise of 28% altogether is becoming stronger contender in the global IT market.
