Pakistan Railway announces 20% Eid travel discount
Pakistan Express Derailment Inspected, Pakistan Railways Declares Eidul Azha Fare Concession
Eid Offer: 20% Cut in Train Fares For Travelers
Lahore: In a good news for those travelling during Eid, the Pakistan Railways has announced a 20 per cent discount on ticket fares for Eidul Azha. The reduced fare is also applicable on all classes for all classes of train operated by the railway.
This offer is time-restricted and for three days of Eid only, for current but new flight bookings, meaning passengers won’t be able to pay in advance and must purchase their tickets during those three days of traveling to fly on either of those days.
The discount is not applicable to other Eid Special Trains which are being planned anyways to cope with the anticipated high traffic during holidays.
Faulty Maintenance Held Responsible for Pakistan Express Mishap
Initial inquiry into the recent Pakistan Express derailment has revealed that lack of maintenance was behind the mishap.
The train, which was on its way from the southern port city of Karachi to Rawalpindi, derailed in the early hours of Sunday near Mubarakpur, in the Multan railway division. Railway officials said hot axle failure — where an axle heats up, leading to mechanical stress — caused the problem. In this instance, it resulted in a crucial pin failing, and the trolley on the bogie disconnecting and going off the tracks.
Fortunately nobody was hurt. But, at least two bogies and a part of rail track had a common noticeable damage. The affected coaches were a dining car and an air-conditioned passenger pioneer coach of 45-Up Pakistan Express, reports said.
