Sindh’s First Special Technology Zone to Be Established in Karachi Education City, Gadap

KARACHI: The Sindh government has received formal go-ahead to establish its maiden Special Technology Zone (STZ) leading to an era of a state-of-the-art innovation ecosystem at the Karachi Education City Gadap. Spread over 500 acres of land, the zone has been developed to replicate the Silicon Valley model, placing Sindh at the vanguard of tech in Pakistan.

Approved by the Special Technology Zones Authority of Pakistan (STZA), the STZ will be focused on smart manufacturing and next-generation sectors, including:

Cybersecurity

Health Technology

Agritech

Blockchain

5G Solutions

Clean Energy

AI and automation-powered platforms

The goal is to create a state-of-the-art, purpose-built community for startups, investors, academia and global tech giants all housed under one roof.

🤝 Investor Interest Is Already High

These included that eight major local and foreign investors have so far shown keen interest in establishing their projects in the zone.

“This Special Technology Zone will be a game changer in the form of bridge between academia and industry, creating job opportunities for high skilled labor and providing impetus to our youth for modern education and technology,” he stated.

🛠️ Fast Development in Progress

Construction progress in the master plan is progressing very rapidly, and the STZ is expected to go into operation shortly. The project is being hailed as a significant step towards the rejuvenation of Sindh’s economic narrative based on tech-led innovation.

“This zone will create innovation, education and jobs throughout the province,” Qamar added.
